Hi, I’m Jodi-Renee (JR), the photographer behind Mixtape Studio.

Storytelling has always been instinctive for me. Before I ever picked up a camera, I was searching for ways to capture the energy, emotion, and color of our unique journeys. Photography became my way to tell those stories—capturing those living moments in a frame.

I found my way back to photography on the sidelines of a soccer field. I’ll admit, I would get a bit too invested in the game—mostly by yelling at other parents when they yelled at the kids! To channel my energy, the camera started to come with me. I found myself captivated by the determination on players’ faces, the time-forged teamwork, and the emotional heights of celebration. It was clear to me: I wanted every player I photographed to feel like a champion, to see themselves as the hero in their own story.

That’s why my style is all about vibrance and capturing the spark of what's in the moment--be it bold or subtle. Our time together should be fun and comfortable, so you can truly shine and see yourself as the main character in a story worth telling.

Mixtape Studio is a nod to my 80s upbringing, when mixtapes were the bespoke soundtracks of our lives--a labor of love we shared with those who mattered most. Every session is a new mixtape just for you: a collection of moments, each with its own energy, story, and rhythm.
